Just upgraded mine last weekend, upgraded from an 8350 AMD build.

Was well worth the upgrade. I only bought 8GB of RAM at first, then the other 8 when it was convenient. But the only way up is Intel, but it's pretty much an overhaul.
Also, the last part i'll upgrade to is the ASUS 1070. Haven't got the money yet but that's what i'm going for. I'm not spending another 200 dollars for something that is a bit better than the 1070.
Why do you want a new mobo?
Mobo has nothing to do with the performance of your rig. As long as it is not broken or as long as you still have all the interfaces you need (numbers USB, SATA ports, etc.), you do not need to replace the motherboard.
Just buy the GTX1080! Keep the mobo.

For OCing purposes, yes, you could use a new PSU and perhaps new processor fan too.
FX8370 is not exactly good anymore for some AAA games, you need to OC the hell out of it.

I only recently upgraded to the fx8370 I had a fx 6300 because that's the best that my mobo can get because of the wattage that the mobo supports for the cpu.
