Well i know this has been asked a 100 times, but for my specific case its a bit different...

While i know price of both is way cheaper outside my country, here they are 373$(1060) & 371$(480) respectively.

I earlier had a thread that i would get 1060 but after some more researching i have realised that amd is looking more future proof and i even realised that everytime a new AMD GPU is out it is a few frames behind in benchmarks but overtime with updates it somehow beats the competitor and gets up anyways...

So my question is should i go with the sapphire nitro considering the future or should i consider any others of 1060/480's

Note- all of 1060 / 480 start for 300-310 $ here atleast so yeah ,-, any help would be appreciated

Future is definitely dx12 and vulkan. If you wish to upgrade the new card with in 2-3 years then yes go for 1060 else go for 480 .From next year we will mostly see only dx12 and vulkan games shipping out

First of all.

What's your main use of computer?
1. Rendering?
2. Games?

AMD Graphic card are the best in Rendering. Using Photoshop, doing some design.
And some games that needed A LOT of PICTURE.
Example : Total War Series, Kingdom under Fire 2.

FPS, MMORPG games such as

CSGO, Overwatch, Assassin Creed, RIFT, etc etc.
Would definitely perform better on 1060.

2nd Consideration.

Are you on 1080p or higher resolution?

Since AMD Cards is good on Rendering. They defintely perform better on higher resolution also.
But well, if you have a GSYNC monitor. You should definitely go for GTX 1060.

=====
My own opinion.

Im play games. I love NVIDIA more than AMD. (Even so my monitor is 1440p and its a FreeSync).

i totally forgot to input all of that info, but here i go...

its mainly for my gaming PC , i have a asus GTX 750ti right now, i7 3770k, 600W PSU, gigabyte b75m-d3h board, 16g DDR3 RAM and corsair h100i cooler

Temperature in my city/area is around 25degrees to 33 Degrees max unless its summer if that matters at all.

And what i am trying to achieve with this build is purely gaming at 1080p @ 60hz and i mostly play competitive games like league overwatch csgo, but would probably play all good single player games i got in my library waiting for me JC3 , Witcher 3 , FC4 , FC primal and would like max details on em too.

Hi xSagaRX,

Well there are may factors that contribute to this.

Firstly :-Is you Game Library full of DX11;If yes then get a 1060(nvidia cards ahead in dx11 games) .DX12 and Vulkan are best enjoyed on rx 400 series card. The async compute gives amd cards a good boost in dx12 games compared to Nvidia cards. You can google the benchmarks of doom(vulkan)and compare gtx1060 and rx 480 .You can also see dx12 games like hitman.Ashes of singularity, dues ex Mankind divided(DX12 mode) then you can see rx480 card ahead of gtx 1060.

Secondly: Power consumption:Gtx1060 consumes very less power compared to rx 480.

Thirdly: Overclocking:1060 is miles ahead in OC compared to rx 480.I can get max 1375 OC on rx 480 cards

Fourth:Temperature:I own a nitro rx 480 OC myself and have seen temp get max to 78 degee celsius.I heard that 1060 cards are cooler in this aspect

Noise:Fans-I live in a country where fans are must(roof fan ,table fan) so noise does not matter to me.However on silent room i observed rx 480 at 100% is quite audible from inside the case

Fair points, my library is mostly full of dx11 games, and thats why i had consideration of 1060 before but i ve been reading alot of people saying that the future is just all about dx12 and vulkan and AMD will probably take over etc, do you think i should just black it all out and just go with what works best as of now, instead of planning about years ahead?

Mantle was the future and stayed on the road, who can ensure that Vulkan is? no one.
