Does a $429 video card seem cheap to most of the Americans?

I live in India, I am not rich but a lower middle class. Still a $429 card seems cheap to me (Rupee equivalent (Rs. 28743). What paralyses me is the $100-150 shipping and custom tax and $100 more for our greedy sellers at amazon.in.

So a $429 card becomes $650 card in India.

Unlike Amazon.US, Amazon India doesn't sell anything, it only "fulfills" some of the products sold by other sellers. (Or the prime Sxxx).

If you care enough to look at the horrors of unfair price please check Amazon.in
https://www.amazon.in/s/ref=sr_nr_n_1?fst=as%3Aoff&rh=n%3A1375354031%2Ck%3Agtx+1070&keywords=gtx+1070&ie=UTF8&qid=1474281107&rnid=3576079031

I wish I was born in the States, free delivery, wide range products, far better customer service.

What do you guys think?

Solution
Import taxes will be your biggest issue, and that's a gov issue. We have a similar issue in the UK, UK and US prices are the same in $ and £, but the exchange rate should make £ cheaper.

vijay, please calm down!!

it would be too shallow and immature to compare two nations of unequal development paths on a trivial thing such as the price of a graphics card. you don't even have a clue how much it costs over there for health care? and home renting and ownership?

and about your wish to be born else where, for 200$ and easy RMA you like to change your nationality? i know you are kidding but come on man!!

from your other recent posts, i see that you are looking to buy a gtx 1070, and in time you will. don't lose your dignity for it, this is an international forum

I don't have anyone in the States. Ordering a card from the US is not so easy either.
1. Indian debit cards don't work at Amazon.us
2. Indian service centers won't accept cards for RMA or repair if they were bought from outside India.

Sometimes it is too frustrating. Graphics card is just another problem.
If you ever compare laptops in US and laptops in India, you will be amazed. take Dell Vostro 3559 for example.
In US, it has 256 GB SSD, 4/8 GB DDR4 RAM, Full HD, costs 35000 rs
In India, it has 1 tb 5400 HDD, 4 GB DDR3 RAM and 1366x768 Res. costs 48000 rs.

All laptops available in india are 1 or 2 years old models in comparison with US.
Yet, we have trillions of engineers in India. I don't know wtf are they doing.
