I feel a bit stupid asking this, but I just really want to make sure that what I think is correct is correct so I don't fry my new GPU or anything else for that matter.

I've got a couple year old build (here's the PCpart list, http://pcpartpicker.com/list/wrMHWZ yes it's pretty terrible, no need to make comments there) running this PSU: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/cvXfrH/corsair-power-supply-cx430m

I've just purchased a 1070 in what is the first wave of new parts for my new build, specifically the ASUS ROG Strix here: http://www.frys.com/product/8876582

Now my issue is that the GPU has an 8 pin power connector but the PSU did not come with an 8 pin cable, all I've got is 6 pins in an 8 pin connector (2 empty pins) to 6 + 2 pin. I can post pictures if that'd help.

My questions are this:
1. Can I use this cable to power my GPU. And if so what end should go where?
2. Assuming I can, should I? According to very quick math, and PcPart's estimated required wattage, I'd be running at 85% capacity of the PSU.

I have no problem with the answer to both or either of these questions being no, I'll just move up the purchase of the new PSU, I just want input from people more learned than myself.

Thank you!

Solution
I highly suggest replacing the PSU. Using adapters is usually a bad idea and running that lower quality psu at that kinda load it probably wont last long.

Assuming I get the Corsair SF600 (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CGI5M24/) will I have the cables required?

If not I am interested in the CableMods cables, but I do need an sfx psu for the case I'm using so options for different PSUs are limited.
