VGA Cable Issue

I decided to double my pc screen using a MP MAN TLX20HEA with native max resolution of 1366x768(http://www.elettrodomesticitop.it/televisore-mp-man-TLX20HEA/product/3437303 for the specs).

I tried HDMI at first and the result was terrible: the TV screen mantained its native resolution but the image was blurred and fuzzy. I tried using the same HDMI cable on a Samsug TV (32") and the result was fantastic (even this second TV mantained a resolution of 1366x768).

So I tried to change using a VGA cable, but the result was pretty strange: the MP MAN TV changed its native resolution to 1600x900 and the image was still poor and blurred. Even if I tried to bring it to a lower resolution, the result was pretty the same with the fuzzy image.

So I tried this cable also on the Samsung TV but, this time, the result was the same: bad resolution.

I Also tried to plug other laptops but the result is the same.

I'm using a Samsung NP300E5C with Intel graphics 3000 and Nvidia GTX 620m

Could it be a cable problem? the one I used seemed pretty aged.

Thank you in advice

Solution
Those older TVs with a non 1080 resolution will have bad image quality, especially with text.

Get a 1080 TV is you want to get good results with one used as a monitor.
