can't connect to net through router

Hi,
I have D-LINK DIR 600L router.the problem is when i connect the LAN cable directly to the PC the connection to the server is established.But when i connect the LAN cable to the router the connection is not being established.Please, help me through this.

Not sure about the setup/connections you are describing:

LAN cable ---------> PC connection to server works
LAN cable ---------> Router connection is not established.

Normal connections are something like:

cable modem ---------> router --------> PC where the "------->" is an ethernet cable.

Do you have the user guide for your router?

If not, here is the link:

Just download the manual matching your version of the router. Use the set up instructions and pictures to verify how you are making the connections.
