Hi community!

I have recently toyed with the idea of dual booting my rig with Mac OSX, and I was wanting to know if there were any pitfalls I should avoid and if my hardware is compatible (see below for specs). Another thing is that I have overclocked all of my hardware by some extent, and I would like to know if the Mac OSX will allow for this.

I know most of this data is available, but I haven't heard people use an Asus sound card with Mac OSX, so any OSX driver suggestions for this card would be highly appreciated!

N.B I will be on using separate drives for each OS.

Also if anyone could highlight any tips they have found in their own Hackintosh ventures, I would be most appreciative!

Thanks in advance!

Alex :)

Solution
Go to Tonymacx86.com and follow their installation instructions and comb through their forums. Your hardware looks fine, but what you want to do is follow their explicit instructions for installing El Capitan to your drive. It requires a USB thumbdrive, a mac to download the installer, etc. USE CLOVER BOOTLOADER as they specify, this will allow you to switch OS's and whatnot, and allows you to boot. It can be tricky with Nvidia cards, sometimes you have to use bootflags like NPCI=0x2000 to boot with an NVIDIA card, sometimes it is tough to get full sound support, but use the forums on their site if you have trouble. With sound, you will use Multibeast as the installation instructions specify, and use the forums to figure out what sound...

HDD-Mod,

Thanks for the input! And yes I am definitely swaying towards going for it!

That's another thing I'd like to know about - what's the easiest way to switch between the OS's? Is there a more refined method other than changing the boot priority in the BIOS?

Warm regards,

Alex :)

If it doesn't work the first time, don't give up, reinstall different sound kexts, research, keep trying. If some of that doesn't make sense, just get on that site and look at the guides.
