So I just purchased the intel i5-6600k from Amazon and the cpu is completely loose inside the sealed box, even though the plastic packaging it's supposed to be in looks intact. Is it ok to use the cpu and rma it if it doesnt work or should I send it back without opening it

Solution
CPUs can take a lot of abuse, so I would document the box status contact the seller showing them it and tell them you are going to test it (unless they are willing to allow a return/refund right away, and then test the chip, and if it works, (it probably will) you do not have to wait.

Well the pins in the centre of the cpu look fine as far as I can tell by looking through the packaging but I will contact Amazon tomorrow and do what you said.

Did the actual box have the factory seal on it?? Amazon pissed me off.. I just got my Asus z170 board and received it a few days ago and they shipped it in the factory motherboard box which 1) was strange and 2) the factory box wasnt even taped or sealed. It had everything in it and one of the capacitors was bent along with the powerswitch led pin was bent. I still installed it yesterday and everything works but I was pretty upset.

Well Amazon told me to open it and if it doesnt work return it. So I built the pc and when I turn the power on the motherboards light is on, the gpu fans, case fans and cpu fan all start spinning but I cant get it to post anything to a screen. Since this is my first build idk if Ive made a mistake with cables (they look fine though) or if the cpu is dead and is the reason nothing comes up on screen
