I'm running into this problem again; I've searched the forums for solutions but nothing I've tried is helping.
Background: Used to have a Model M keyboard plugged to the MB with the stock PS/2 cord. March 2016 a Microsoft update disabled the PS/2 support. After a few days of back and forth trial and error, I got it running again. I then got an older Model M keyboard. Due to the terminal controller, I had to have the older Model M USB modded. USB, being universal required no adapters. Plug and play... I've been using this keyboard for about 6 months.
Now: Looking into getting a third Model M restored. This one does have a PS/2 connection which I want to keep. That keyboard is currently non-operational. What I am currently wanting to do is make sure that the PS/2 port will not have any problems like it did in March. I currently have my USB modded keyboard plugged into this adapter.
The computer will not recognize.
Motherboard is MSI, listed below in my signature.
Configurations are
Legacy Support Disabled
USB 3.0 Enabled
I have tried the registry edit of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt and set the value to 1.
Didn't work.
I have tried to boot with the board plugged into PS/2, then restart from the Windows Logon Screen. Didn't work.
I am at a loss. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it. Comments such as "get a new keyboard" or "PS/2 is old" are useless and not welcome.
Thank you
