I have a intel dh61ww boarded with a core i5 2500k gtx 450 and 8gig ddr1333 ram. Is it worth upgrading to a msi ddr4 board with i3 6100 and 8gig ddr4 ram and keep my gtx450

Solution
Yes, that would be better choise rather than switch out your CPU, MoBo and RAM.

For GPU, i'd suggest GTX 950.

Or if you have bigget budget, get GTX 1060 3GB.

You could also get GTX 1060 6GB for about $20 more from 3GB version.

RAM used in bench.

And here's also the SSD i used in bench.

Short answer: No

Long answer:
Bench between your current system and new one,

Userbenchmark PC Build Comparison
Baseline Bench: Game 20%, Desk 59%, Work 33%
CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K €219
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTS 450
SSD: Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB €60
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 C10 1x8GB €34
MBD: Intel DH61WW €71
Total: €384

Alternative Bench: Game 20%, Desk 61%, Work 30%
CPU: Intel Core i3-6100 €105
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTS 450
SSD: Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB €60
RAM: HyperX Fury DDR4 2133 C14 1x8GB €35
MBD: MSI H110M PRO-VH (MS-7996) €62
Total: €262

Note: Since i didn't know what your current RAM speed is, i picked default 1600 Mhz RAM. And SSDs in the builds are just for making the bench comparison work.

SSD: Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB €60
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 C10 1x8GB €34
MBD: Intel DH61WW €71
Total: €562

Second bench, between GTX 1060 3GB and GTX 1060 6B with new DDR3 1600 Mhz RAM:

Userbenchmark PC Build Comparison
