Tried running MSI Afterburner but my display drivers keep on crashing and at worse my pc crashes onto blue screen when it reaches more than this:

Are there other ways to overcome this problem?
I have a ASUS X456U Notebook with these specs:

Intel Core i5 6200U @ 2.80 GHz Quad Core
Nvidia GeForce GT940MX 2GB DDR3
Samsung DDR4 3333 MHz
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

No not really...overclocking is new for me because I recently got this laptop and my desktop CANNOT be overclocked because it has a intergrated AMD GPU

Id start by reading a few overclocking guides, they wont tell you exactly what settings to use but they will tell you how to get a reasonable clock, as mcnumpty pointed out temperature will most likely be the limiting factor with a laptop

The voltage slider on the MSI afterburner is greyed out...so now what?

you have to go into settings and tick a box to allow voltage control

thats assuming you can add voltage to it

Well i guess my overclocking is limited only to the Core and Memory

Increase core and memory clock speed in small increments, it is all covered in overclocking guides, http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/faq/id-2749337/safe-gpu-overclocking-guide-2016.html. that is a good one as it shows what to look for when things go wrong

doesnt really surprise me to be honest its not the same as a desktop gpu where you can get rid of excess heat much easier
