Can I transfer steam games From laptop to pc with a usb?

Hey guys I've got a question for all you guys and I need some help, I'm looking to buy more games for my computer to play but due to slow internet speeds I'm unable to, I was wondering if i brought a laptop into a place with high internet and downloaded games from steam, could I transfer the games via usb stick and put it into my pc at home without having to download it?

Yes. There is a backup tool in the steam client. Run a backup on the games on the laptop(to the USB), and then run a restore of the games from the USB to the PC.

It would probably get messed up/not work correctly without some tinkering as the registries that come along with the game are not acquainted for.

Ah right i overlooked this. You would do that through the "Verify integrity of game chache" option in steam, right? (can't remember exactly what it's called)
