Hi all,
Here's my current system:
i5 3570k @ 4.2 GHz w/Corsair H105
MSI Z77A-GD65 gaming
16GB Kingston HyperX @ 1866Mhz
GTX 1080
Im currently at a stand still when it comes to CPU performance as I'm playing games at 1440p and hitting 100% CPU usage, and below on average 90% GPU usage. What's your opinion?
I have two options I was considering: (1) Upgrade just the CPU, buying a used i7 3770k off eBay for about $250-$300USD, or (2) Upgrade my CPU architecture to Skylake, switching out my CPU, motherboard, and RAM, costing upwards to about $450-500USD after tax.
Question is will the 3770 still bottleneck? Has Ivy Bridge been deemed obsolete yet, or would I be good with the 3770? It's what, two generations behind... I don't have a problem upgrading to Skylake, but I was wondering if it's worth it price to performance wise.
Thanks in advance!
