Hey,

My PC was stuck updating overnight, stuck on 35% for a full day pretty much. So I turned the PC off and then it got stuck ''reverting changes'' from the update that failed.

Tried to system restore to before the updates - however now even my System restore hangs - I left it overnight to make sure. It's stuck ''removing temporary files''

I ran in safe mode, tried to disable automatic updates after running services.msc - 'automatic updates' wasn't there.

I ran chkdsk in safe mode w/ command prompt too - didn't work.

I also ran sfc /scan now or whatever that command is, and it returned that everything was normal from what I recall..

How can I proceed, preferably without having to reinstall windows as I have projects that need to be finished and would corrupt if I reinstalled.

Thank you!

Well, if you can get into windows, you should save any files or folders you need to a USB stick or an external hard drive. Eventually you will need to check your disk for errors as turning off a pc while the hard drive is writing can damage sectors.

I would suggest getting a bootable windows install disc and choosing repair this pc.

You may have to change the boot order in the bios to boot from the dvd disc.
That is if you have a dvd rom on your pc, if not you'll need a bootable USB drive with windows.
