About 2 months ago I connected my pc to the internet via tethering on my phone as I did not have internet yet. The next day I start up the computer and it says Windows is not genuine with a code that says 0x80070005 and the background is black and the bottom right corner says "Windows 7 Build 7601 This copy of Windows is not genuine. I recently got internet and a new wifi adapter hoping to fix this but even though it says it's connected to the internet I can't "use" the internet. I can't load webpages or use Steam or anything. I tried multiple times to fix these problems but nothing works. I think these problems are related because it won't let me use any commands in cmd related to ipconfig. I get the error "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022). Click OK to close the application. I was hoping to fix Windows somehow when I got internet but ironically it won't let me use the internet to fix it. My pc is an HP Pavilion p7-1003w and my wifi adapter is a Belkin N300.

Well, you're going to have to install windows on another usb.. and any files or such that you have installed make sure you drag it over to another usb not the same one as the Flash Drive you're going to use to install windows. If you don't have another computer then go over to a friends house or something and download it on the flash drive. I don't recommend but you can install a torrented file with what ever windows you wanting to install so you don't have to rebuy it!!!

Well I didn't actually buy a copy of Windows it is an OEM copy and was already installed on my computer when I bought it so will it allow me to reinstall and reactivate it with the product key even though it's an OEM version?

Why reinstall? You will have to call HP and/or Microsoft to fix the activation issue.
What was the last thing you did before this started?

I connected my pc to the internet via tethering. I think it might have also tried to install an update but the problem still persisted even after I uninstalled the update.

That should have nothing to do with the OS licensing.
Call HP.

Well hold on that will be the last resort.. For one if a copy of windows were to say it was ungenuine you should still be able to go on the internet.
So,
Did you install any viruses if you did have internet before?
If so, try finding a restore point to an earlier time before you might have installed the virus.
If that's not the case and you can't use ipconfig which is giving you an error you are gonna have to talk to microsoft about it, Since you don't want to mess with an oem copy..

if you can't find any virus and can't use ipconfig. Then you have no other choice but to reinstall windows, OR talk to Microsoft.
If you don't feel like talking to them then look up how to restore OEM Windows 7 which will show you step by step
on how to restore a OEM Operating system back to factory defaults..

yes, you will lose your files from a factory reset. Save the files you want to a usb or external hard drive first to be on te safe side.

Sometimes a hardware change can cause windows to report "non-genuine".

Have a look in your device manager for yellow exclamation signs or red X's. Are your network adapters ok?

You may have a win sock issue that you can repair by;

Type Cmd in the Start Search text box and press Ctrl-Shift-Enter (keyboard shortcut to run Command Prompt as Administrator). Click Continue to allow elevation request. Type netsh winsock reset in the Command Prompt shell, and then press the Enter key.

I haven't changed any hardware recently and the winsock reset didn't help but some of my network adapters do have a yellow exclamation on them in the device manager. The ones with errors are:
Microsoft 6to4 Adapter
Microsoft ISATAP Adapter
Microsoft ISATAP Adapter #2
Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter
In the properties for each one it says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)
I did notice these exclamation marks before but don't know how or when they got there and just thought nothing of them. Could this be the cause of the internet problem?

Well I do believe that these network adapters, specifically the ISATAP one, might be the problem, but I currently don't know how to fix them despite using multiple methods.
