External Hard Drives displaying as RAW on only 1 PC and working on all others

Hi I've got a PC which a lot of my external drives show as RAW when plugged into. I have temporarily fixed one of the drives by backing up on a separate PC and formatting. I was wondering why this is happening on only that PC. The external drives are always safely removed. What can I do to fix this permanently?

Thank you,
E

Hey there, Ecaarnage.

It might be an OS issue, so try updating it if you have available updates. You could try those HDD with that PC and Ubuntu Live USB/DVD, just to see if that OS is capable of properly recognizing the drives' partitions. I guess you've probably tried different USB ports, but if you haven't - go ahead and give it a go.
You should also make sure that you don't have any virus or malware threats, so make a full scan with your antivirus program (with updated database).
And last, but not least, you could check the health of your drives with an HDD diagnostic tool, just to make sure that they are all in good condition.

Hope that helps.
