My Seagate Backup Plus 1 TB HDD which I purchased last month is not getting detected and producing click sound 2 times when first connected. I tried changing cable and tried different laptop and pc but problem still persists. The device is getting detected in the Device Manager but not in Disc Management and Seagate Tools.
Kindly help me out from this problem and let me know if there is any solution or I will have to get it replaced.
Thank You

Solution
Hi there Arnav Jain,

Unfortunately, it seems that the drive has some mechanical flaw. Clicking sounds could be caused by not enough power supplied to the drive as well. Yet, you've ruled that possibility out when you used a different cable.
In your case, you can:
- RMA the drive as GameFreak01048 suggested.
- Contact a data recovery company, in case you have some really important data stored onver there.

Cheers,
D_Know_WD :)

Hello!

If i was you i would contact seagate and ask for a replacement, because you bought it last month so you can get another one free of charge on your warranty claim :)

This means you can just send it off and get a new one with no hassle, nice and easy :)

Solution
I would agree, past experience has taught me that when it comes to external usb storage hard drives in there own enlosure.
They seem to break very quickly.

Seagate drives are well known to have this problem, but also some external usb drives from WD also have a high failure rate also physically with the drives.

Your far better just going through the warranty on the Backup plus 1 TB usb drive you have.
Because in most cases as said the drive used inside the enclosure often suffers from a control board failure that cannot be fixed, only replacing the drive for a new one resolves the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply. I assume then there is no other alternative and I should replace the drive. Although I don't have any important data, just all the downloaded stuff which I will have to download again I suppose.
Thank you for helping out, I will contact Seagate and get this replaced. :)

Thanks for quick reply. I will get it replaced then.
Even I faced the same situation with my WD Passport 1 TB, which was not in warranty and eventually I had to give up on it. Is there any way to get the Control Board replaced in case of WD?
