Hdmi port issues

Hi all, just a few hours ago I removed the hdmi cable from my Asus GTX 1070 to shift everything onto a new table. Then I proceeded to plug in the hdmi cable into the port I have been using all this time but the monitor gave me a no signal message. So I thought it was a monitor problem so I tried connecting it to my laptop and still the same message. So I decided to connect my desktop to the tv and it failed to work as well. Since the 1070 has 2 hdmi ports I decided to try the other port that I haven't used, lo and behold it worked. That wasn't enough for me so I plugged it into my motherboard's hdmi port and no signal. Are my hdmi ports faulty?

Solution

Yes, you'd need to reinstall the card after fully uninstalling it. Then check the software settings if it still doesn't work. Sorry for the confusion.
Some monitors and TV's will automatically shift inputs if you unplug them. And some video cards will also stop sending a signal through a port if it gets unplugged while on. To double check, turn everything off, plug the monitor into the port you were using before, then turn everything back on and manually select the appropriate input on that monitor. HDMI ports rarely go bad.

I figured out how to enable it through the motherboard bios so the issue is solved.

I will give this a shot, RMA-ing it will be a slight inconvenience seeing as my semester is about to begin next week.

I tried and it did not work. Guess it is a faulty port then?

Seems odd since it was working before. I guess it could have broken a solder point or something when it was plugged/unplugged, which should still be valid reason to RMA. Ports are expected to withstand normal traffic. Only other thing I can think of is if your card allows you to select which ports it's outputting from. Maybe it got set back to default or something, or mirroring got turned off when it was unplugged. Also saw someone with similar problems over in this thread:

Just an update to the situation, my reseller is not replying my calls and messages so I will have to RMA it myself. But before doing that as it is a hassle any other solutions that I could attempt?

You can try reinstalling the card of course. Uninstall the drivers with DDU, physically unplug it from the mobo, etc. Then double check the software/device manager to make sure it hasn't disabled that port or set it to an unsupported resolution/refresh rate for some weird reason.

So that means if I uninstall it I will have to plug it into the motherboard to view correct? Then hop down to the device manager and check for? Sorry I do not understand the procedure.
