So, I have a nice machine at home, but when I travel, I'm stuck with an aged mac book.

What I would like though is a desktop box that I can carry in a bag, with something like this acting as the monitor: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ACCUPiX-Mybud-3D-Viewer-Glasses-100-Head-Mount-Virtual-Screen-HDMI-GENDER-/321749007091?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368

Something like this for the keyboard http://www.neqtiq.com/products/microsoft-universal-fldbl-kybrd-bluetooth?gclid=CjwKEAjw34i_BRDH9fbylbDJw1gSJAAvIFqUqZc_2QamE4UShvLEv1xQiTezebtsTTq_mVDGaPtNEhoCvjDw_wcB

Along with a Bluetooth mouse and my steam controller.

I don't go to cafe's and work, I tend to work in hotels, houses, apartments, etc., So having a portable box with a battery pack and wireless peripherals would be WAY better than a beast laptop with a huge display I'd think.

Not only would it potentially be more machine for my money, but it would be easier to upgrade, etc.

So, what do you guys think? I couldn't find anything like this posted on here either. :)

motherboard...
Every once in a while there is a question about making a portable desktop with some screen instead of using a laptop.
Do you know how heavy a battery to run a full computer would be?

Go pick up a car battery and then come back and let us know if you still think it's a good idea to run a desktop in a box with a battery pack. That is only the battery power weight, not counting a video card or anything else. You can build a small gaming desktop to carry around, but I'd forget about powering the thing with a UPS as the main power, just plug the thing into a wall.

Gotcha, what about without a battery pack? Or assuming I can afford one of those space-age battery packs that are small and crazy powerful (and likely more expensive than a super-charged laptop)?

Essentially, I want a gaming laptop without a monitor, keyboard, or mouse, so that I can use glasses and wireless peripherals with it.

I suggest looking into best video card to use with this, although it looks like it will hold a good size one.
