hey all
please excuse the novice question. I am trying to set up SMTP alerts so when a hard drive fails in one of my servers I will hear about it vs. logging in to each server and checking the logs manually.
Here is what I do NOT understand: basically how this all works. I have heard of SMTP relays and am reading up about them but do not get it either. Say I am on a domain that uses an exchange server for email, what do I need to do to get computer A to send an email to computer B. what process is involved and where do I need to start and what do I need to check/ask myself.
