RAM: 2x 8GB set Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4 BLS8G4D240FSA

Motherboard: AsRock Z170 Extreme4

Processor: Intel i7-6700k

RAM and motherboard are compatible in dual channel according to here. However, whenever I place both sticks of RAM in dual-channel placement, the PC fails to boot even into BIOS.

The motherboard has the four memory ports, from left to right: A1 A2 B1 B2

The following combinations give:

A1 A2 - PC boots normally. 16GB of single channel RAM.

A1 B1 - PC fails to boot. Dr Debug displays error code 4C.

A2 B2 - PC fails to boot. Dr Debug displays error code 4C.

B1 B2 - PC boots normally. 16GB of single channel RAM.

Single stick in A1 or B1 or A2 or B2 - PC boots normally. 8GB of single channel RAM.

The problem obviously does not lie with any one memory port or stick, but rather with the dual channel arrangement.

Any suggestions as to the cause and/or solution? Thanks.

EDIT: I have tried Tradesman's suggestions of raising the DRAM voltage to no effect. I have also tried reseating my CPU and checked for bent pin without any luck.

Combining single modules is not recommended and not guaranteed to work. I suggest you use a kit of two modules that have been already tested for compatibility. Those modules are intended for single module use and not for combining two or more. What you are doing is called, "do it yourself compatibility testing". Single modules even with the same part number have never been tested together, thus no guarantee when using more than one.
