So i have a budget of around $320 for a graphics card. But im stuck on which GPU to purchase since they both seem very good.
Sapphire Nitro Radeon R9 Fury Tri-X 4GB HBM - $290
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202186&ignorebbr=1

Asus Strix RX 480 8GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814126117&cm_re=strix_rx_480-_-14-126-117-_-Product

I want to play games like GTA 5 , Battlefield 1 and Rocket League on the best settings on 2560x1080. But i feel like the 4GB limiting on the Fury.
Thanks :)

Solution
Well first I'd like to thank everyone that replied and tried to help me make up my mind.

Secondly I purchased the Asus Strix RX 480 and i can't complain at all. Runs 66C Max temp and very quiet.
Has RGB and I'm running games flawlessly. I looked up the Vram usage and it uses 3.6GB on 1080P which is cutting it close and i dont want to have to upgrade for another 2 years or more. Now i wait to see how Battlefield 1 performs when it releases.....

Grab a GTX 1060 ROG STRIX. That Fury card is older, and a newer card will last longer with the more VRAM and such (and driver updates, etc). If you can, save up for a GTX 1070 or get a used 980 Ti on Ebay if your OK with that stuff.

Umm, no. According to benchmarks:

I can provide more if needed. Point is, the GTX 1060 is about 10 to 15 percent faster, especially with the nice factory OC of the GTX 1060 ROG Strix.

R9 480? I assume a typo...

Yes it is a typo. Either way the R9 Fury demolishes both cards by a large margin. At 1080p the Fury is the ultimate card at this price.

It's older and has less vram though. Plus it seems like the 4GB is limiting.

Seems like i just keep going back and forth. If i were to save about $80 more and get the GTX 1070 could i run it on my RaidMax Vampire 700W 80+ Gold Modular Continuous ? Thanks

The 1070 is overkill at 1080p. There are a couple of games that limit settings if you have 4gb but they are very minimal. It is really not a limiting factor.

However Raidmax is a very poor quality PSU. 700w is excessive for any of these cards, however your best bet, save the 80 bucks on the GPU get the Fury instead, and spend that $80 on a good 550w PSU from EVGA, Seasonic, or any other good vendor.

Well I was looking at the games I play which are GTA 5 and Battlefield 1 . It looks like with Battlefield 1 maxed out on 1080p , it uses around 3.2GB which is scary ..... I just don't think it'll be enough and I want the card to last me a long time . That's why

3.2 is still less than 4. There comes to be a certain point at 1080p where only so much texture detail can be shown and hence the draw on memory is lower. As I said there are some games that limit certain settings (Doom being one with some shadow settings) on cards with 4gb or less memory. So you may lose a few smaller details, but you will get extremely high fps in comparison to the RX 480 or GTX 1060. And the memory in the Fury is HBM which is far faster.

Its up to you but my personal opinion is the card which has the fastest performance and still supports all new technologies.

even so at 4k (where extra VRAM can be the advantage) Fury X still come out on top in all title tested by TPU

Game debate shows the fury only about 3% faster than the rx480 8GB. Fury uses over twice the electrical power. It's one of the top boards from last year, but time to move on.

See the November 2016 issue of Maximum Computing for testing of top 10 cards for price/performance. RX480 4GB wins hands down. I personally like the 8 GB version for the faster vram speeds.

if you look at review done by TPU Fury X is about 20-30% faster than RX480 in general. when it comes to it even R9 390X is a bit faster than RX480. the only advantage of RX480 is power consumption is a bit lower due to new process node shrink. but when it comes to raw performance in games Fury X still come out on top. and it is quite noticeable at that.

Game debate is garbage, look at real benchmarks like renz posted. I love my R9 480 but its not even as fast as a 390X in most games, and the Fury X blows away the 390X.

it only wins in one: vulkan

the 1060 is significantly faster in current games

and they are within 3% of each other in dx12
the 1060 can overclock much more, further giving it the edge

We're not just talking about 3% advantage with dx12 and window 10 but cool new features coming over the next year.

Seriously? What do those numbers even represent? Gaming requirements comparison? Thats NOT a benchmark. None of those games are even out yet or have any formal benchmarks. Again game debate is crap, I'm not going to do the research for you. Google it and look for actual comparison tests.

The sad part here is I actually own an 8GB RX 480 and I'm debating against it.
