It worked fine until today. First problem occured while in class. It basically asked for permission to access the folder. Then at home it asked for permission to access the folder every time I clicked any folder in usb drive. I've been following some internet answers about activating administrator account and what not (mainly using cmd net user and net user administrator /active:yes)

Didn't work, it's getting super hot while trying all these solutions, and finally it just says:

"G:\ is not accessible. Access is denied."

I'm on the only account my computer ever has: administrator which is also my account. I can access anywhere else and make changes etc etc BUT this particular usb drive - G. It worked fine until today so I don't know what happened in between. Virus Scan doesn't work because somehow it gets stuck while trying to scan (Avast says it's scanning but it's still in process of scanning with 0 files after 30 minutes - not 0 infected files. it literally says 0 scanned files).

I'm leaning toward usb drive getting old to use...it's been about 8-9 years since I got this. I don't have important files on that drive but it's just for school works - the completed ones. Is there way to access this drive and at least copy them for last chance?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Could be a bad drive, see if you can access it on a Linux system. Make a Linux Live CD (I use Knopix), boot the computer off that, see if you can read the drive. If you can, copy the files from it and format it clean, see if Windows will see it normally then.
