Hello All,

I have a doubt about this Bottle Neck concept as i will be building up a new pc for gaming purpose.
The new build consists of the following parts ,

CPU : i5 6600K
Mobo : Asus z170 pro gaming motherboard

I have a GPU Zotac gt 730 already. My Question is will my current GPU will Bottleneck my new CPU?? And How does it effect and what are the effects?? Please Explain!!! Thanks!!!

Solution
Just so you know, the HD 730 will most likely be slower than the integrated graphics in your new i5, so I would advise not using it.

There are always bottlenecks, or your games would run infinitely fast. One component will always be the limiting factor. I'm going to make up a scenario: If your GPU can deliver 40fps on medium settings and 50fps on lowest settings, and your CPU can only deliver 45fps regardless of settings (graphical settings don't affect the CPU), then you'd get 45fps with the lowest graphical settings, and 40fps with medium. In this scenario, the two components traded places being the "bottleneck", depending on what in-game settings were chosen.

Bottle Neck is a process that happens when because of one part, any other part can't work on it's full potential. In your case the CPU is good and of a high potential it won't affect the performance of your gpu.

Well, because the majority of games out there (though not all, of course) are more GPU bound than CPU bound, with a strong CPU like a 6600K, the GPU will be the bottleneck, no matter which one you have. There are a lot of variables, like resolution, quality settings, and the aforementioned games that may be more CPU bound, but again it's a generalization.

As far as the GT 730 goes, it will always be the weakest link in any modern gaming system. It's just not capable of drawing enough frames fast enough to tax most modern CPU's. Hence the "bottleneck."

I always play in lowest graphic setting and i mostly play CS GO which is a CPU bound game. If my Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 can handle NVIDIA GT 730 then why cant I5 6600k can handle it ? Just wanted to know wether i can use my Gt 730 graphic card or not?? with Intel Skylake 6600K!! Should i go for the Testing? Or should i play with integrated graphics of this I5 6600k processor.

But Most of them are saying if the CPU is powerful then it will not bottleneck my GPU and will work fine.. M so confused.. I only play CS GO which is my favourite game and i need more FPS for better play. Should i use my GT 730 with i5 6600k

The 6600K "handling" the GT 730 isn't the problem. The problem is that the GT 730 would be holding the 6600K back.

Also, as was suggested above, the iGPU in the 6600K is actually slightly better than the GT 730, honestly. Meaning, there's really no reason to use the GT 730 at all.

So, basically, if you have a 6600K, just use the iGPU instead of the GT 730. Or get a better GPU.
