Hello,

I have assembled a system with the following specs: CPU: AMD FX9590, MB: ASUS M5 A99FX Pro r2.0, GPU: Radeon HD 5450, AVEXIER 16GB and SSD: CORSAIR FORCE LS 240Gb. The system had a few problems. It kept freezing at random. It also break down two 600 W PSUs when I tried to run a heavy computational program in parallel on 8 and then 6 of the cores. Do you think I need a better PSU? What power supply do you recommend? Does disabling C1/C6 in bios resolves the freezing problem? (I learned about this after the PSU was dead so didn't get a chance to try it). Finally, the system does not respond my USB mouse and keyboard when the screen goes idle.

Thanks in advanced for your help

Your Welcome Amir and yes you are correct, the Crosshair V Formula Z is best. Also the SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 is also a very good board that fully supports the 9590.

I have two systems using CVFZ and FX-9590. The FX-9590 is a beast of a processor but with the right cooler and Bios Tweaks for OCing, it can be tamed. Mine are OCed to 5.2GHz and stable. Never had any problems in the 3 years of use. I now await ZEN for my next build.

I always recommend a decent and efficient PSU for this combination of MB and CPU. EVGA, Seasonic, Antec have very good units in the Gold Certification category. It is when the system is under load where it counts for the higher OCs and 600W is cutting it fine and would be making it work hard if you play a lot...
Hi Amir :)

Unfortunately your have chosen the wrong CPU for your M5 A99FX Pro r2.0.

Your MB does not fully support the FX-9590 as it has a TDP draw of 220W and your MB only supports 140W. This means that your Mosfets or VRMs will overheat due to voltage requirements and your system will be unstable. This instability will continue unless you choose a CPU of lesser TDP draw or choose a MB that fully supports the Processor. Disabling C states will not help as this is just a power saving option in Bios.
Also your need a decent Gold certified PSU of 800-850W min. Seasonic, Corsair, EVGA are all good.

As far as the keyboard and mouse, you may need to update the Bios, or make changes. The mouse and keyboard would not respond if your system crashes due to instability.

Thanks for your prompt and useful response. :)

I did some research into motherboards and it seems that Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z is the best choice. Unfortunately local shops in my country do not have this one in stock. So I looked into alternative AMD 8 core CPUs. I have to run a lot of simulations and I prefer higher speed CPUs, however, if I need to buy a new PSU then maybe changing the CPU would be a better option. I found that AMD FX 8300 (3.3GHz, 95W) and AMD FX 8320 (3.5GHz, 125W) are good choices and available. Do you think my 600 W PSU is enough for them? Otherwise what is your recommended MB with FX9590?

If you choose to keep your existing MB then either the 8300 or the 8320 would be fine using a decent air cooler and a moderate OC.

I need help with my 9590, I have many problems with it and the list goes on and on. I would greatly appreciate your help because you said the AMD FX9590 could be good but mine keeps freezing after disabling turbo boost and cool & sleep and underclocking and watercooling installed with a low temperature average of Celsius (maximum 56 Celsius) Please add me on steam and message me if you can to help me find out the what problem is. http://steamcommunity.com/id/Penguin_shark
