Ok so I have the following desktop PC at home that I built mostly for free from donations / spares etc (I work for a IT company) and I would like to know if I will be able to run say Mario Kart / Golden Eye (via emulator) or Halo 1 with 3 mates. Basically I got 3 mates coming round for a few beers next weekend and I thought we could relive the glory days of Golden Eye etc. I have ordered 4 x USB gaming controllers and whilst I know the games work fine when I play them I am not sure of the ability of the CPU to run 4 players.

My spec is as follows - As mentioned not very high end but mostly free:

ATX Case
Cheap 500w PSU
Maplins after market CPU and case fan 90mm/120mm
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ (OC'd to 3.15ghz)
8GB DDR2 Ram (2 x 4GB Kingston Value nothing fancy)
Nvidia GTX650 1GB Graphics Card
Samsung 850 Evo Pro 120GB SSD

Output to 40" LCD TV via Nvidia's Mini HDMI output, either at Full HD or 720p. According to Core Temp my idle temp is around 34c and when I am playing Titanfall on high settings it creeps up to around 50c.

We are not planning on getting serious with 50fps or anything and most of the games are either N64 Emulator ROMS or PC games from several years ago (Halo 1 etc)

Can I realistically expect the above to cope ok and give a playable experience ? I know when I play on my own I can play Titanfall on high settings with no issues.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hello!

From the looks of the specs and what you are going to be asking from the machine, as long as you have a big enough screen that all of your friends can see what's going on and they don't have to press their faces up against the screen and you have enough USB ports for the controllers then it should be absolutely fine :)

Cool thanks - I have 6 USB ports so no issues there and the screen is a 42" LCD TV so each person will have a similar view to that of a smallish computer monitor. Back in the day we played Goldeneye in 4 player mode on little 28" TV's so that should be fine as was mostly concerned about the performance

Ta.
