My concerns is putting paste on, recently my laptop died, I pulled out my desktop that wasn't turning on, found out PS shot, well now it's up and I redid the paste, was burning a cd when it shut off, when it rebooted I checked my bios and it was running hot, redid the paste again and now its running between 58-70 C......I haven't tried to burn.....should I start looking for a new CPU?

As CountMike says, what's "hot" will vary from CPU to CPU. An AMD chip might throttle above 65c, where an Intel might throttle at 100c, depending on the particular model.

If you're getting throttling, it's probably either that you didn't mount the heatsink correctly, or the fan isn't working on it.

I understand that, I did some checking, my pc runs at 55-70 at idle, then when I go on FB and start playing let's say "pool" it gets hot, aometimes all the wa up to 105 before I close the window or the game....

thanks Chris
