Hey guys! :) I'm planning to upgrade my gaming pc in the coming weeks. My cpu is rather old and bottlenecks my gpu heavily in newer titles (you can see my setup at the end of this post).
Now here are my questions: At first I'd like to know if now is a good time to look for a new cpu or if any events in the near future should stop be from buying one now (e.g. new releases).
And then I'd love to hear your recommendations on a cpu and motherboard that will serve me well for the next couple of years.

Thanks in advance :)

AMD's Zen CPU will be coming out hopefully in the first half of next year. I don't expect it will shake things up too much though. Any Intel CPU on the market today would be a fine choice.

If you don't intend to overclock, an i7 6700 (non-K) can save you a bunch of money. It's clocked ~2-4% lower, but comes with a cooler, can be used with the much less expensive H110, B150 and H170 motherboards, and has a lower price tag.

I just upgraded from an AMD 8350 to and I7 6700k. I'd say any 1151 series would be a good mobo update. It's pretty new so it'll last for at least a couple years. Since it's the latest tech being poured into it. And maybe an I5 if you're a bit on budget, otherwise the 6700k I7 looks like it's going to follow in the 4790's steps, years of gaming.

Thanks for the quick reply! Is that one of the mobo's you are talking about? https://www.amazon.de/Asus-Z170-Mainboard-DDR4-Speicher-Schnittstelle/dp/B0126R3QPA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1474567394&sr=8-1&keywords=1151+mainboard

I'm looking forward to more recommendations :)

Yup, Z170 chipset. I prefer ASUS but Gigabyte is also an option out there. Personally i couldn't recommend MSI mobo because as of late they've been riddled with problems. Even I've had one die on me. The best quality that I've personally seen has been out of ASUS ROG series. Plus, any 1151 cpu type comes with standard DDR4 requirements, which is faster than DDR3, you could argue that it's not that much of an impact for gaming right now, but it still is faster, even if a little. You could wait for DDR4 prices to go down if you wanted, but they aren't the worst I've seen.

Thanks for your reply :) The thing is that I really regret not being able to overclock my current cpu at the moment :'D That's why I'd probably stick with the K variant.
