Since yesterday evening my desktop PC has suddenly become unable to connect to the internet via the ethernet cable I have plugged in (it simply stopped being able to connect while I was using it). When running the troubleshooter it gives the error message from the title of this thread. I have been looking for several hours now to try and find a solution to the problem with no success and have tried numerous suggested solutions. Also, I'm not sure if it's relevant or not, but this occurred before my system installed an update for Windows 10 (so before a restart which actually installed the update).

I'm reasonably confident that the problem does not lie with the Router or with my ISP because I can still connect to the internet via my Desktop's WiFi card. I'm also fairly confident that the problem is not a hardware failure because the ethernet cable is in fine condition, and the boxes of the TP-Link that I am using to connect to the router are both lit up (plus the Network Sharing Centre says that my computer is connected to an "Unidentified Network" via the Ethernet, so it seems to register that there IS something there).

Solutions I have tried:

  • Restarting the router (twice)
Disabling and re-enabling the ethernet in Adapter Settings
Unchecking the IPv6 in the ethernet adapter properties
Changing the IPv4 properties to the same IP address as the WiFi card (I also attempted to follow the steps in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QC5IEmj_7OQ which also changed the IPv4 IP address and the DNS server)
I uninstalled the adapter driver and reinstalled it
I also installed new Killer Network drivers for my motherboard
I even tried switching the machine off at the wall and left it for a few minutes as I saw on another forum thread for the same topic that this had sometimes solved the problem
I tried following the instructions on here: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/faq/id-2079064/ethernet-doesnt-valid-configuration-notification-windows.html but that had weird results.
I've also tried switching both Windows Defender and my Anti Virus software off to see if that did anything.

Basically, I feel like I've tried most of the simpler solutions available and it hasn't solved anything, so any help with this would be massively appreciated.

Hardware specs:
Intel Core i5-4690K CPU
MSI Z97-G45 Gaming Motherboard
(If anything else is needed I'll try to supply it)

Further to the above, I have run an "ipconfig /all" to try and preempt the response asking for the logs:

I noticed now that the IPv4 address for the Ethernet connection is 169.254.6.43 which (according to this thread http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-3003616/ethernet-valid-configuration.html ) could be behind the problem.

That said, following said thread has yet to provide any solution for me.
