I have a laptop computer and i want internet with an ethernet cable. I have another pc next to it which is connected directly to my modem with a long ethernet cable (my modem is 20 meters away). How can i give internet to my laptop, is there a way to connect it with ethernet cable to my pc with a usb slot?

Solution
Hello!

In order to give a PC internet from another one you need to either "Bridge" the connection, or share the connection. Bridging requires an ethernet cable, one ethernet slot free on one PC and another ethernet slot free on the PC you want to give connection to.

Sharing requires the PC you want to connect has a wireless card or dongle installed so that it can connect using wireless to the computer.

To bridge a connection, connect one computer to another via ethernet cable and go to control panel, network and sharing center, adapter settings, then select both connections that you can see, right click and select "Bridge connections".

To connect a computer wirelessly to another one, on the computer that has an internet connection...

To connect a computer wirelessly to another one, on the computer that has an internet connection go to control panel, network and sharing center, right click on the active connection, click on properties, then click on the tab "sharing" then click the tick box that says "Share this connection" or something like that (I forget, haven't done it in a while :D)

I hope this helps!

I already have a wifi on both devices but the signal is weak, that's why i want to use an ethernet cable. By the way, i use an ethernet to ethernet connector see here. Can i use this with 2 outputs? The input is the one that is connected with the modem. The one output goes to my pc.

If you share the connection on the computer that is connected via ethernet and connect the other system wirelessly to the ethernet connected system the wireless strength should be "Excellent" if the systems are close to each other.

No problem at all! :)

I'm rubbish at explaining complicated stuff sometimes :D

Take a look at this: http://www.windowscentral.com/how-set-and-manage-network-bridge-connection-windows-10

This should help, basically to bridge a connection you have to select two connections, one being your computer that is already connected and one that isn't :)

Don't forget to vote for the best answer! This really helps us out a lot :)

hmm...how many connections can you see on your adapter settings?

If you take a screenshot of your network adapters that you can see before you attempt to bridge connections I can tell you what you need to highlight and bridge :)

Alright so this is what needs to be done I think, let's say that PC 1 is the PC that is connected to your modem via an ethernet cable and PC 2 is the one that needs to be connected.

If you have windows 10 there should be an option called "Mobile hotspot" in the network and internet section of settings.

Click that and you will be given an SSID and password that PC 2 (The pc that isn't connected to the internet) can connect to wirelessly. :)

Laptop? Does it have windows 10 and an ethernet port? You can plug your ethernet cable into your laptop and make it a hotspot that your other system can connect to wirelessly then :)
