Can you please suggest a monitor or TV for an EVGA 970 FTW

I just don't know enough about monitors to make an informed decision. Is Gsync worth it? What is it about flicker(or not) that makes BenQ sometimes popular with gamers? Should I buy an IPS screen for the best gaming experience? Curved or flat? 3D or not? So many question and too little knowledge.
Do I need to consider the memory issue os the 970?

Budget not a penny over $1400. Not a one.Nope. That's the absolute most I can spend.

My current 32"1920x1080p TV sits about 7 feet away from me.

It's used primarily for gaming and movies.

I don't have cable but wouldn't mind receiving local channels one day.

Not really sure what else to consider.

Forgot the distance ><. If your playing more single player/less competitive games you could always get a 4K HDTV which will look nice but you will want to replace the 970 as its not really powerful enough for newer games at that resolution. So 4K/GTX 1070 would be something to consider if you don't mind lowering the graphics a little bit to keep the FPS around 60.

What is rest of your system specs? for $1400 I would probably look into replacing the GPU (1070 or 1080) then getting a 1440P/144+hz IPS monitor. I would go curved only if I went with a ultra-widescreen (ex:3440x1440 or larger). I tried 3D and IMO its not really worth it. Anything above 1080P I would think the 3.5gb of vram on the 970 may not be enough.

Evga 970
Msi Z97
8GB RAM
500W PSU
Win 10
Multiple HDDs and an SSD for the OS and most used games and programs.

Is there a specific monitor that you can recommend. Why that monitor?

I would go for a flat IPS screen for sure. You want a screen with 144ghz? Gsync is a better version of V-sync. t depends on your point of view if its worth it. Are you going to use it?

The brand doesn't really matter unless you prefer over the others.

And what resolution do you want? Keep in mind that your gtx 970 will never be able to play games at 4k.

I would still consider a 120+FPS monitor, especially if you play FPS games such as BF4/1 since its so much smoother gameplay. If your prefer to not upgrade your GPU then I would go with this Asus (1080P/144hz).

I have this monitor and it was a massive improvement over my older Samsung LCD HDTV 37". Much less input lag, faster refresh rate and colors were a bit more vibrant IMO.

Being so far(not like it's a mile) from my TV I don't think I want to go from a 32" down to a 24".

Speakers are another issue. My current speakers in my TV aren't that good. I'd love some great sound.

Upgrading my GFX card isn't out of the picture. That's the whole reason I am here. You gave me some things to think about. Thank you.

Maybe a new GPU
Maybe a surround sound system
