Hello Fellow builders,

I have a 4790k which I plan on OC with a Custom 2x360 rad loop (expanding a EK 360L kit with a ddc pump).

I am also planning on upgrading my GPU to a 1080 Air Cooled (evga FTW probably).

Then in a year, SLI and Water Cool the GPUs into the 2x360 rad loop, thus Pushing the OC of both cards.

From what I have read a 80+G 750watt power supply would take care of the 4790k+2x1080 at factory speeds or a mild OC.  But if I want to push a OC on all three should I opt for a 850 watt now so I am not maxing the 750?

The Power supplies I am looking at are EVGA G2 750/850 ($89/$109)

Those 3 components (CPU + 2x GPU) can pull near 500W at stock speeds. Add in the motherboard and peripherals/cooling, I'd expect a max (theoretical) load to be in the 550-600W before you even look at Overclocking. The 550-600W is definitely the max 'in theory', but your actual draw is likely to be much less.

Appreciating you're looking at only a single GPU initially, a 750W would work, but pushing OCs out of all 3 components down the line, an 850W (at least) would be the smartest investment from the outset.

A quality 850W doesn't have to break the bank either.
The FSP Hydro G850W (Gold rated, fully modular) and great quality, can be had for $100 after rebate at the moment...
