I have HP Pavillion p2-1257in Desktop(please please go through the specs of the system and mobo in given link) an need to upgrade it whether it's worth it or not. I am not allowed to build a new rig until I get this one to it's extreme and use the upgraded version for another 10-12 months (Can't do anything else, house's rules. Just don't ask). It has a mini-ITX mobo - Pegatron 2AE2, chipset is Intel H61 Socket LGA 1155, it is powered by an external power supply of 90w(that I will change to 150 or 200 because I will be adding i7 3770k to it). And I will be using Thermalright TRUE Spirit 120M(BW) Rev.A for cooling as it's best according to the size of my case. Now comes the main thing, I want to mod the cooler by replacing the existing 120mm fan and adding another one. And also want Don't worry about powering them up I will have another 300w internal psu just for the fans and sata. Please tell that can I upgrade the cpu to i7 3770k, given that the TDP of my mobo is 35w? And suggest the best 120mm fans and a 92mm fan for my scenario(don't need decent want best) I have EK-Furious Vardar FF5-120 (3000rpm) in mind for the 120mm is there anything better (Noise is not a problem)? And yes I can't change my case or mobo (Case is just for making it a bit of challenging ;P )

im not really sure what im supposed to be looking at. in any case.....im not sure why you're worried about "max cooling" because any old heatsink/fan will do just fine with a stock 3770k (you won't be overclocking it on an hp h61 motherboard, the bios doesn't allow it) and anything better than a basic HSF will be completely fine and run the CPU well within its thermal limits. like it said previously, its the heat on the motherboard i'd be WELL worried about. if those VRMs pop then you could be looking at a dead 3770k as well

I'm not sure what the actual question is here...but yes a 3770k SHOULD work in that board. it may need a bios update but this all seems very very futile. you really should be considering a new motherboard as well. do you already own this processor?

i can tell you one thing that it could be a very big pain trying to get that case to work with a different motherboard. the power/reset/hdd connectors could be a real problem. HP uses proprietary connectors for their cases so, while it might work if you get lucky, it very well may not as well. you're better off getting a new case, psu and motherboard all together.

also, finding new LGA 1155 motherboards is also a real hassle. they aren't being produced anymore so the pickings are slim and you're likely to have to resort to buying used on ebay/craigslist. you can upgrade to whatever processor you want, as long as you buy the right motherboard. in this case, you need an LGA 1155 board for a 3770k, preferrably a z75/z77 board to be able to overclock the 3770k. otherwise you're prob better off just getting the plain 3770.

whatever these "house rules" are...you may want to try explaining how its much more logical to get a new case if you're going to do any upgrading at all

Trust me I have tried my best for explaining. And thank you for guiding about the processor. I also wanted to ask is that I want to customise the Thermalright TRUE Spirit 120M(BW) Rev.A by changing the pre installed fan and also adding another one for better performance. So I need two 120mm fans for this. I want to know which is the best 120mm fan/is there any better than EK-Furious Vardar FF5-120 (3000rpm) fan.

Have you tried reading your own links to this motherboard?
•TDP: 35 W (Only 35 W CPUs are supported with this motherboard)

The Intel Core i7-3770K has a Thermal Design Power of 77 Watts.

The Thermal Design Power (TDP) is the average maximum power a processor can dissipate while running commercially available software. TDP is primarily used as a guideline for manufacturers of thermal solutions (heatsinks/fans, etc) which tells them how much heat their solution should dissipate.

i can definitely say i ran an i5-2500 on a cheapo asrock h61 motherboard and it very much did NOT like it. im pretty sure the vrms on the board were getting over loaded. so a 3770k will probably be worse than that. sounds like a recipe for disaster to me

about the fans...youre not going to see much of a difference at all between decent fans. id suggest not stressing out about which ones to get. get some decent ones and call it a day.

So you are saying no matter how good cooling system I install or add watts to the power supply, it won't work ?
