I bought a brand new Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 3G and a used MSI Z77A-GD65 Motherboard and a an Intel i5 3570k from a friend and the GPU doesn't show a display, but the onboard graphics does. The GPU does work because my friend tested it in his PC and it worked. He has an i5 4690k. I researched and this GPU should work with a 3570k and a Z77 chipset so I need help figuring out if it is just this motherboard or some other problem with the PC.

Specs:
i5 3570k 3.4 GHz
8GB RAM
MSI Z77A-GD65 Motherboard
500w EVGA PSU
Gigabyte GTX 1060 OC 3G
1TB HDD

Solution
Connect your display to the motherboard and enter the bios. Then dig around the settings and look for the default display device, and select the gpu, then save and power off, connect the monitor to the GPU, and it should be working.
