You need to look at the motherboard you plan on getting to see what outputs it supports. As an example I chose a random gigabyte h170 board and it has the option of dsub (vga), dvi (won't work as vga with an adapter so dvi only) and hdmi. I looked at a couple others, an asrock h110 and msi b150, different brands, different chipsets and they also supported all 3 video ports. All three were inexpensive boards so I would hope the more expensive boards also had all 3. Still probably good practice to verify what exact outputs the motherboard you choose actually supports. Then you'll know what options to look for with a monitor.
