Nothing extreme. I don't plan on painting or removing anything. Just wondering if it's ok to put stickers on the heat sinks. I think they look tacky. Also, is there a good way to cover unwanted LEDs? I thought about just using some tape or perhaps i might apply some chewing gum.

Just curious, are there any form-fitting mod kit type dealies?

Solution

If you take the heatsink off the motherboard and do sanding somewhere else, then it's probably ok (if you don't break anything and are able to put it back). :)
covering heat sinks with stickers is a bad idea, as that will interfere with the cooling of the VRM/ Northbridge/ whatever is under it. as for the LEDs, you could take some black (or whatever your motherboard color is) plasti-dip and use a Q-Tip to cover the LED.
I cannot say if there are really any mod kits for motherboards.

as mentioned metal dust is not something you want around motherboard. you would have to wash the motherboard in denatured alcohol or something, and that gets sketchy fast. you could simply get a case without a side panel.
