Hello,

yesterday I've replaced my old CPU, motherboard and RAM as part of upgrading my PC and since then my graphics card (ASUS GTX 260 TOP) has started overheating. Before replacing the parts it worked as it should.

My new configuration is:
AMD FX 6350,
mobo ASUS M5A78L-M USB3,
8GB Kingston hyper-x fury,
ASUS GTX 260 TOP
2 HDD
and ocz stealthxstream 500W PSU.

My old configuration where GPU didn't overheat was:

amd athlon x2 4800+,
mobo MSI K9NNeo-v2,
6GB DDR2 RAM.
Everything else is the same.

Could it be that I didn't connect all the parts properly?

Thanks in advance.

The most obvious thing to check all the fans especially the one on your graphics card. With the side panel off you should be able to see if they are spinning. If one is not spinning then check the connectors going to the fan or card.

It is also possible for a fan to just die because you shut the computer down for a while. Sometimes they refuse to start back up.

Less likely is that your new configuration, particularly the CPU cooler, has changed the airflow in the case. Is the CPU cooler blowing hot air onto the graphics card? Is the card in the same slot as before? Could it have moved close enough to block the air intake?

Well, this mobo is smaller than the previous one so the CPU and GPU are much closer. They are about 5cm apart. The GPU fan is working. Using GPU tweak I've set the fan on 100%. But the temperature is between 80 and 90 degrees celsius when im in DotA 2. When PC is idle temperature is around 70 on 40% fan speed. The only connectors are 2 6pin ones from PSU. Does it matter in which order they're plugged in?
