Actual used space and usec space shown by c drive no adding up

So, this is probably gone be something that has been asked before. I am tryingt o reduce the size of used space in my hdd so i can clone it onto my ssd. But on windows 7, my computer shows that c drive has 284 gb of ree space out of 465 gb. I can't figure out where all this extra space is going.

I have checked that there are no back ups of the system and that system restore space is set to minimum, have also made sure I look at all the hidden files and delete any I don't want. I've run windirstat in admin mode and it shows only 91 gb of used space as shown below.

not sure where all this other space is. Any help would be appreciated.

Make sure you when you scan your drive you unhide all hidden folders and system files. When you scan the file system it will only show data your permission level allows because Windows tends to hide directories to protect you from yourself. This should provide you with more files.

So, you have about 181GB used space.
WinDirStat shows 91GB used.

What is the actual Restore Point setting?
Hibernation still turned on?

Also, what size is the SSD you are trying to clone to?

yeah I've unhidden all the files and ran windirstat in admin mode, so it should have scanned everything.

The ssd is a 250gb samsung 750 evo. The restore point is set to 1% and I have deleted all previously backed up restore points. Its not in hibernation, i had to shut it down and reboot for some of the unistalls.

My Disk Management and WinDirStat report almost exactly the same size 'used space'.

Win 10 Pro
418GB on the SSD
~122GB used space in WinDirStat
~120GB used space in Disk Management

On your WinDirStat, what are those 2 large green spaces on the right?

And going into a 250GB drive, that 180GB actual used space should go no problem.
(but that doesn't answer the question of where that extra space is)

They are both system files, about 14.5 gb in total and has been included in the windirstats 91 gb i believe.

I plan to install quite a few games on the ssd once i clone the OS over, so being able to get rid of that extra unaccounted for 90 gb or so of storage would be really prefered.

So, just try it and see what actually happens. Do the cloning operation.
See what the actual used space ends up to be on the SSD.

If unsatisfactory, step back, go back to the HDD, and remove some 'other stuff'

Try it and see what happens.
