I started building my first PC today with following Parts:

EVGA Supernova 650 GS Modular 80+
PNY GTX 1060 6GB
16 GB DDR4 RAM
ASUS Z170-E 1151 Motherboard
i5 6600k
Coolermaster Evo 212 CPU Fan
Corsair 200r Mid Atx Case

So I Installed the CPU, The Cooler, The RAM, the PSU, inserted The Motherboard in The Case, plugged in All necessary Cables, done. Tried booting it with Monitor attached --> worked perfect.

Now I installed The GPU, which was a Bit hard to Push into. Tried booting --> nothing. I hear a Short Click The CPU Fan moves for Two seconds and then nothing. When I then try again even The Fans wont do anything. So propably something causes a short.

I was googling a bit, there could be following problems:

1) The PCI-Slot is damaged (But I tried the other ones and they weren't working eiter)
2) The GPU is damaged
3) The PSU is damaged (Or doesn't give enough power)
4) I just suck at this, and doing something stupid, which causes the GPU to short

Now here's a Video of me trying to start the PC https://goo.gl/photos/FRYGzg9szmbSTFqN8

I don't know if you can see correctly, but what happens is, the CPU Fan starts, and stops after a second and the GPU reacts, tries to start but immediately stops. Also note that the GPU seems not really stable.

The cable of the Power Supply are not really visible, but I have plugged in the two Mothercables in the PSU and the other part of the cable into the Motherboard. Then I have a VGA Cable which has 8 pins on one side, which I plugged in into the PSU and one end of it has 6 pins, which I plugged into the GPU.

Is there anything I can try, or do you see any mistake I made? The parts I listed should be compatible right? I can't really test the component since this is my only Desktop-PC at home.

In your case, start with the basics. I would remove video card (to force intergrated graphics), use only one ram card and one storage drive. If it boots that way you can start to narrow the problem down. Your gpu doesn't seem properly inserted as it's flexing way too much.

I was able to get closer to the problem. Over night my PC was unplugged and in the morning i tried again and suddenly everything worked. The difference was, that I connected an HDMI cable to the GPU. So over night the Motherboard got resetted and then only cared about the GPU, because I plugged the HDMI cable in. So when the integrated Graphics of the CPU gets ignored it works.

So I was building it together yesterday, and was able to install Ubuntu. When booting I got some other problem, the Monitor wasn't able to handle Ubuntu, the monitor had a message "Input not supported".

So I restarted a few times, tried other Video-cables but suddenly again nothing. So again over night, I left it unplugged over night, and tried this morning and everything working fine again going over the Graphic Cards.

I guess it could really be the Graphics Card not inserted correctly, even though I pressed many times, screw it to tight to the case and the plastic piece on the side of the slot, is closed now and doesn't go any further up. So I don't know what to do there.

What I also notice is when booting the PCI-slot has a red light which lights for about 2 seconds right after the boot and then disappears, same as with the Storage LED. I don't know if this can be ignored, since it's only lighting up right at the beginning of the boot.
