Storage for fonts, help

Hi!
I've read that a pc with a lot of fonts stays slow, because of the fonts, now, i got 2 questios..
First of all, is it true? And if it is, how much fonts can i have without afecting my performance and second question, the fonts are on my hdd right? And if i install a ssd and install there the windows and the fonts?

How many is 'too many'? Thousands?
But it only may affect (teeny effect) when you open an application that actually uses those.

This is not something you really need to be concerned about.
Where did you read this? People say a lot of useless crap.
