Ok I posted recently but all this research has made my head spin a bit haha.

So this is what I currently have: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/8FsKqk
My monitor is not listed there but it is a 27" 1080p 60hz Acer. Nothing special.

I play: Mainly RPGs (Witcher 3 currently) Action/Adventures, RTS and FPS (Overwatch from time to time)

What I am looking for: I am SUUUUPERR hyped for Mass Effect Andromedia, so I am looking to upgrade my rig (monitor included) in whatever way I can to make mass effect as beautiful as I possibly can. My budget is ~800

If you guys could help me out that would be amazing!!

Thank you so much!

Your CPU will likely be fine, not sure how CPU intensive mass effect is but your cpu should be powerful enough. I chose a 21:9 1080p panel for you. Not sure if you want something like 21:9, or maybe you could go with 16:9 1440p, or just step up 10 34inch ultrawide. They 1070 will handle all of this just fine, and you could even run 4k, but would have to bring your budget up a little for a monitor likely.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB SC GAMING Video Card ($404.98 @ Newegg)
Monitor: LG 29UM68-P 29.0" 60Hz Monitor ($279.00 @ B&H)
Total: $683.98

So your telling me I could potentailly do 1440p gaming with only upgrading the GPU and monitor? Nothing else? Aside from mass Effect (which we dont know for sure yet I guess) will other games preform ok at that res such as witcher 3?

One last question would the wide and extra wide monitors be harder to run at 1080? or are those for 1440p?

A 1080p Ultrawide monitor has more pixels than a regular 16:9 monitor. Its 2560x1080 instead of 1920x1080 so yes it is a little harder to run. For 1440p Ultrawides is 3840x1440 vs the regular 16:9 2560x1440, so again a little harder to run, just because you have some extra pixels on the sides.
