so I built my system and got it sableish with the overclock etc (32%) now its time to concentrate on storage, I have my 950 pro m.2 all hooked up etc. but obviously I need much bigger storage for my other games I play..

I prob need a 2tb SSD (3TB would be nice but prob too expensive) but I was thinking maybe NAS storage is a better way to go? after all the whines of the WD black wouldn't be next to me etc. and I prob would get about 5 times the storage for the same price etc. for a raid 1 setup ofc.

Has anyone tried a running a NAS for gaming? list the bad and the good with it please so I can make an informed choice to buy either a NAS or a SSD.

Thanks in advance !

I didn't answer 'the question', because the question - NAS vs SSD - was flawed.

No, you do not want to install to, and run your games from, a NAS. whether it holds SSD's or HDD's. That is simply introducing another level of slowness in the system.

What you want is an internal drive. HDD, SSD, whatever.
Size and type vs budget.

NAS or SSD is not an either/or.

A NAS (Network Attached Storage) is a box, with a minimal OS, with some drives in it.
Might be HDD, might be SSD.
Said box is generally attached to a router and available for all the systems inside that network.

You can put SSD's in a NAS box. You can put HDD's in a NAS box.
You can have a NAS box with both.

Now...let's analyze your actual storage needs, and what you have now.
A 2TB is still pretty pricey.

But you didn't answer my question which was, is NAS a good option for gaming? (running it as just storage for game files and using my computers power to run the games) we have come a long way in capability's of NAS these days, maybe its viable that I can get the game files from the NAS to run on my pc just as I would if I put them on internal storage in my pc.
if not ill just buy a 2TB NVMe drive and use that instead.
