what's the right sound card for a Dell desktop Dimension 8300, if you're running Win7 (32bit)?

HI!

I have a Dell (desktop) Dimension 8300...with a Sound Blaster Live! card (previously used with WinXP).
I've tried downloading EVERYTHING from the parent comany (Creative). Nothing works. The computer won't recognize the card. The downloaded drivers, in the beginning of the installation, say that I need to have a card installed. I tried re-installing the card (and the cords). I even tried a different port. No go.
What card will work in this desktop, when using Win7?
Many thanks! :)

1| Have you tried installing your Creative sound card's drivers under compatibility mode:
Right click installer>Properties>Compatibility>Windows XP from drop down menu...?
and then try installing drivers in an elevated command;
Right click installer>Run as Administrator

2| You might also want to make sure that your motherboard BIOS is up to date. If you're unsure of how to do it, don't sweat, you shouldn't try to either ;)

3| Is this the board you have in your Dimension 8300?

If so then you can populate PCI based sound cards into the white slots. Leave the green one for your GPU.
