Hi there! I'm new to pc building and I've recently built my own gaming computer using 2 videos.

General Video w/ Specs - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3F5CGqqA_I&index=9&list=PLTW2MN17j-L2iftY8hrTSW1GJRZNvy3vb
Build Setup - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aycJRXPRJQQ&index=8&list=PLTW2MN17j-L2iftY8hrTSW1GJRZNvy3vb

Now I've altered the build slightly by using an evga gtx 960 4gb instead of the msi r9 380.

After building the pc and hooking it up to my monitor (BenQ GL2460HM), I keep getting no signal on the monitor itself.

The monitor is plugged into an outlet, the pc is turned on and hooked up to the monitor, using a DVI cable. All of my pc parts are compatible and have no gaps in them. I've looked on YouTube to find a solution but my friend told me to go on this forum before going any further. I'm in need of serious help, and I'm so lost and confused with what to do next.

I should add that I do have an OS, but it's a cd key on my flash drive, and when I plug it into the usb 3.0, I still get no response to a boot setup, it just shows no signal on the monitor

Solution
If it doesn't post with just power supply, CPU, motherboard and RAM (outside the case), one or more of these components came defective.
I'll be honest, I wouldn't have selected an older Haswell CPU for a build in 2016, and I'd also have chosen one of the new 14nm video cards rather than the older GTX 960, but that wouldn't have anything to do with your PC not POSTing.

Here's where I recommend you start: Pull everything out of the case, and use only the essentials. Try with just CPU, motherboard, 1 stock of RAM and power supply. Try booting using your onboard video. This will allow you to rule out some components.
