Hello!

I have recently started on my gaming computer and I was wondering what would be the best liquid cooler for my Intel i7 5960x CPU.

Price and design to me doesn't really matter, as long as it gives me the best results and the lowest temperature possible.

Please ask me if you need further information about the CPU or computer in general.

Thanks! - Felix

If you have the space for it, Noctua's D15 performs within 1-2c of the best liquid coolers, with less noise, at half the price. It interferes with a lot of high-end RAM though, which often comes with unnecessarily tall heatspreaders - DDR4 doesn't really need heatspreaders at all. You also don't have to worry about pump failures.

A custom loop will provide the best overall cooling and allow you to customize it to your case. However, this will be by far the most expensive option, and probably the worst value (in terms of cooling per dollar).

In cooling, surface area is the name of the game. A 2x140mm cooler such as the NZXT Kraken X61 would do very well. Noctua's D15 (2x 150mm) has more cooling surface area than most 2x120mm coolers...
The 5960x is probably not the best choice for a gaming PC. It produces a lot of heat, uses the older Haswell core design, and isn't clocked very high. Having that many cores will hurt your overclocking ability, so you'd probably be better off with a 6700K or 6800K.

Okay, thanks for the info! Still need to consider some really good coolers first for maximum possibility. Got any ideas?

Noctua's D15 (2x 150mm) has more cooling surface area than most 2x120mm coolers and so you need something with a really massive 2x 140mm, 3x 120mm or even 3x 140mm radiator to beat it by any significant amount.
