This simply isn't true, but I don't see a lot of need for an i7 (yet) unless you're shooting for 120hz/144hz gaming.
I agree, it isn't true, but as newer games start to take advantage of hyperthreading, the i7 will become better, and the i5 outdated. i7's aren't much more than similar spec i5s, and are (probably) worth it. They i5 is good for a while, but they want to future proof, so an i7 is the better option.
