WD My Passport Ultra detected but wont open

Hi. :)

im not techy and i really dont know much about troubleshooting or what. :(

I badly need your help. im a pre-med student and i have lots of important files and i need those for my board exam. my laptop was corrupted and the only hope i got is my hard drive. i bought a new laptop and sadly i cant open my WD My Passport 1TB external hard drive. however, my old laptop i didnt encounter any problem viewing/saving my files. SO, i tried switching usb port, replugging it several times, i clicked the troubleshooting option and updating the driver. still nothing happen, i cant open it.

please help me. :)

I'm sorry to hear about your detection issues with the WD My Passport external HDD. :( I'd strongly recommend you going to Disk management in Windows and checking how the hard drive is recognized there. Posting a screenshot would be really helpful.
Do you have the same operating system's version as your old laptop or is it a different one? You mentioned switching the USB port, but I'd also suggest you try using a different USB cable with the WD My passport as well. If you have access to another computer, try connecting there as well to see how and if it will get recognized properly.

after connecting my passport to lg smart tv my hard disk didn't work on my laptop and it has change to raw format
i been looking every where for last 3 days with no sleep and every one suggestion was buy a recovery software
and they all been saying you cant change your raw hard disk to ntfs but this youtube vedio will guide you how to get it done
