Hi, my hdd dead few weeks ago, so I bought new samsung evo. So what to do with my faulty old hdd. On crystal disk info it shows CAUTION status, works on clean windows install, but on higher loads it's gonna to bsod. I have few options: throw away, repair it, (but don't know what level knowledge needed), and sell it to used pc parts. And one more question if I use dariks boot and nuke quick erase, data can't be back uped? I ask because I wanna know how to safe sell used hdd, to others?

Hey there, @Blitz Blitz!

Can you share a screenshot of your HDD diagnostics' SMART results. If the utility is showing 'CAUTION' status that means that some important SMART attribute is failing. If it's the 'Reallocated Sector Count' or the 'Pending Sector Count', I'd not advise you to trust any data with it as the HDD's health will only get worse. You can't fix bad sectors, so it's better to get rid of the drive and simply buy a new one. If the HDD is still covered by its manufacturer's warranty, get in touch with their customer support and send an RMA request in order to get a replacement.
Writing Zeros with a specific formatting utility completely erases the HDD, so your data would be unrecoverable.

Hope this was helpful. Best of...
