[HELP!] NCASE M1 - reference or non-reference GPU?

[To anyone who are current NCASE M1 users/builders or have had experience building with the case]

Hello all, I'm planning my first ever PC build and I'm looking into the NCASE M1. I have almost all of the parts figured out...

BUT, I'm having trouble with GPU choice. Should I go for a reference or non-reference GPU? I was thinking of using a non-reference EVGA GTX 970. But after some reading; I've read that the reference blower-style GPU would be a better choice for a small form factor - unless I have good and proper airflow to go for the non-reference route.

I will be using this PC mainly for daily use + 3-D modelling/rendering (maybe some light gaming).

---------------------------------

So I would like to know:

1. Reference or non-reference?
2. If I want to go for the non-reference path, any airflow tips to make it work? (Really this is what I want to go for, but am open to suggestions)

Thanks a bunch!

Solution
The reference 970 is fine but it might be a little noisy and not overclock very well in that case, otherwise it's fine. If you need to save some money you might be able to find a used one, it's still a fairly new card and unless someone put the card on water and overvolted the shit out of it there shouldn't be much difference between used and new.

looking how the gpu is situated inside, you REALLY want a blower styled card

Thanks for replying. Just looking for second opinions and other options, that's all. Thanks for the opinion. If you feel I should get the reference cooler; what do you think of the reference gtx 970?

Getting the 970 (I WAS gonna go for the 960 initially) instead of 1060 mainly because of funds...Kinda ironic seeing as I'm looking at the NCASE M1 lol.. but I really like it's build quality, looks and form factor.

I see. Alright. Are those 2 fans below it intakes? or exhausts? Seen this 2 fans below the GPU config before but wasn't sure.

Really? A 1060? you think so? I would really like to keep costs down as much as possible really...

Ah, noisy huh.. I may be nit picking a bit here but noise is another concern of mine. And no worries I'm not looking to overclock at the moment. A used 970 you mean? or a used 1060? Thanks for your two cents!

used 970, because that is the only way a 970 is cheaper than a 1060

Oh right.. I thought the 1060 was more expensive than the 970. Checking now, you're right. My bad. I must have been looking at the 1080 by accident oops. I might go for the 1060 then. Thanks!

Haha, tomshardware, saving people money every day.
