I'm planning on building a PC with the RX460 and the i3 6100 but I don't really know what power supply it will need. I have a couple of old desktops I can scavenge from for parts so I hope to be able to use one of the cases, but they also have 300W power supplies in them, would that be enough?

Solution
It will work, but I wouldn't recommend using that for so long, more than a year or two, because those power supplies are not made for pushing wattage close to their peaks. So yeah just do that for now, and sometime soon maybe upgrade it.

So you think I should look at like 400-450W supplies instead? That power supply you sent a link for is a bit more expensive in the UK where I am and I want to try to keep the cost as low as possible. I found this 300W power supply: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/cougar-stx-350w-80-plus-230v-eu-power-supply-black-ca-016-cu.html , do you think that would be a good enough quality? Also I think I might have downvoted your answer by accident, it's my first time asking a question on this website, so sorry about that.

That PSU is okay, and 300w will work, but I would recommend going to 400w+ just so that you can re use the psu when you later upgrade your parts. So just find something in the 400w range that is at a good price from a reputable company.

If 300W will work then I could use that at first as I already have two 300W power supplies I could use which are already in the cases. If I use one of them at first I could then swap it for a better one later if I need to. It will not actually be a PC for myself but I want to build it for someone else so they can play games decently, but I need to keep it as cheap as I can so if one of the 300W supplies will work without harming performance or damaging any components then I will use that. Or is it safer to just spend a bit more and get a new one?

Okay, thanks for the help. I will use the old power supply at first if it's compatible with the other parts, but if not then the information you gave about what sort of power I need has been very helpful.
